Mark 11:22-23 (NKJV)
“So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.’”

Jesus is giving His disciples a powerful lesson on faith, authority, and the power of believing prayer.
1. “Whoever says to this mountain…”
In Jewish teaching, a “mountain” was a common metaphor for:
- A huge obstacle – Something impossible for humans to move – A major problem or challenge.
“Whatever seems impossible, God can move if you believe.”
2. “Be removed and be cast into the sea”
This expresses:
- Final removal – Complete elimination of the obstacle – Something that cannot easily come back.
Faith can bring total victory over what stands in your way!
3. “Does not doubt in his heart”
This is the key part. The Greek for “doubt” = diakrinō meaning:
- To waver – To hesitate – To divide internally – To be uncertain
Jesus emphasizes heart-level faith (inner confidence in God), not just words spoken outwardly.
4. “Believes that those things he says will be done”
Here Jesus teaches:
- The alignment of the heart and mouth – Faith-filled speaking. Expectation that God will act.
This echoes Proverbs 18:21 and 2 Corinthians 4:13.
5. “He will have whatever he says”
- This is not “name it and claim it” in a selfish way!
The context (Mark 11:22) begins with: “Have faith in God.”
- Faith works because of God, not because of us.
Jesus teaches that believing prayer, rooted in God’s will, spoken with confidence, has power.
Mark 11:23 teaches that:
- God can remove impossible obstacles.
- Faith speaks in agreement with God’s promises.
- The heart must agree with the mouth.
- Prayer must be rooted in trust in God.
- Faith must be without inner wavering.
This is Jesus’ way of saying:“If you trust God and speak in line with His promises, He will move mountains in your life.”
