National Council of Churches in Pakistan Holds General Committee Meeting, Elects New Leadership

On 3rd October 2024, the General Committee of the National Council of Churches in Pakistan (NCCP) convened under the leadership of The Most Rev. Dr. Azad Marshall, Moderator/President Bishop of the Church of Pakistan. The meeting brought together representatives from the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan (PCP), the Church of Pakistan, The Salvation Army, and the Associated Reformed Presbyterian Churches (ARP).

The session commenced with an opening prayer led by Bishop Dr. Azad Marshall, followed by the singing of *Psalm 9*, which glorified God’s eternal reign, acknowledging that His throne remains forever. Rev. Dr. Majid Abel, the Interim Executive Secretary, then read the minutes of the previous Executive Committee meeting, which was held on 27th July 2024 at 8-Empress Road. The minutes were unanimously approved by the House.

In the course of the meeting, Bishop Dr. Azad Marshall formed a Nomination Committee, chaired by Bishop Leo Roderick Paul. After deliberation, the committee presented the names of the new officers and Executive Committee members to the House, all of whom were unanimously elected.

The newly elected officers of the NCCP are as follows:

– The Rt. Rev. Alwin John Samuel, President of NCCP

– Rev. Dr. Majid Abel, Executive Secretary of NCCP

– Col. Macdonald Chandi and Rev. Arif Siraj, Vice Presidents of NCCP

– Rev. Kashif Naveed (ARP) – Treasurer of NCCP

Additionally, in recognition of his leadership and longstanding service, The Most Rev. Dr. Azad Marshall was unanimously elected as the President Emeritus of NCCP.

The NCCP extends heartfelt congratulations to all the newly elected officers and Executive Committee members. We pray for wisdom and discernment as they take on their responsibilities, and we ask God to guide them in their leadership as they oversee the daily affairs of the National Council of Churches in Pakistan.
